If material crosses the Chinese border, the Human Genetic Resources framework applies, and the pathway depends on what you will do with it: purely in vitro research use, use in a registration trial, or export of the data rather than the cells. We assess this during feasibility – before you commit budget – tell you which pathway your project falls into, and either handle the documentation or tell you it is not feasible. Two routes we use often: keep the work in our Shanghai laboratory and ship results instead of cells, or source material for your jurisdiction domestically so nothing crosses a border.
